Original Painting
Some of my work at the moment seems to have a navigational theme. As you might already know, I rarely paint with a plan and let my thoughts and mood take me to wherever it wants to go on the canvas. It's a really exciting method especially with having accumulated a well stocked studio full of mediums and tools to work with which is very freeing!
With 'Satallite', I can see the sense I'm making of this new chapter in my life. I think it has some lightness and humour in its simplicity, etching out thoughts and expressing the communication and new connections I'm making in a new town. I can see a nod to the landscape of the beautiful surrounding South Downs by day and by night where I can catch an unpolluted darkness and see the stars.
I've used Acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal and high pigment pastels which have been fixed and matt varnished to an archival, gallery standard.
This piece has a studio made complimentary frame of black painted strip wood, which if required can be removed easily by your framer should you wish for something different.
