Original Painting
As you might already know, I rarely paint with a plan and let my thoughts and mood take me to wherever it wants to go on the canvas. It's a really exciting method especially with having accumulated a well stocked studio full of mediums and tools to work with which is very freeing!
'Rose Aurora' is a large piece allowing lots of movement and painted with all good feels music in the studio! (Music often influences my work.) When selecting my palette I was drawn to warm colours and as I went along I used a light chalk paint to soften the feel of the piece which also gave a receptive surface for the pastels and charcoal. I think this piece could possibly be described as both seismic and ethereal!
I've used Acrylic paint with chalk paint, graphite, charcoal and high pigment pastels which have been fixed and matt varnished to an archival, gallery standard.
This piece has a studio made complimentary frame of white painted strip wood, which if required can be removed easily by your framer should you wish for something different.
