Original Painting
As you might already know, I rarely paint with a plan and let my thoughts and mood take me to wherever it wants to go on the canvas. It's a really exciting method especially with having accumulated a well stocked studio full of mediums and tools to work with which is very freeing!
'Resonance' is a large piece allowing lots of movement, painted to the sounds of the Hans Zimmer, Master of Modern Composers. His scores resonate with the emotions of jeopardy, adversity and hope and are textured, emphasising sonic atmosphere and storytelling. Drawn to a warm palette of high pigment paint, I layered with a softening chalk paint which also gave a receptive surface for the pastels and charcoal. I think this piece could possibly be described as having both seismic and ethereal elements and I was unashamedly the conductor all the way through it!
I've used Acrylic paint with chalk paint, graphite, charcoal and high pigment pastels which have been fixed and matt varnished to an archival, gallery standard.
This piece has a studio made complimentary frame of white painted strip wood, which if required can be removed easily by your framer should you wish for something different.
