Original Painting
As you might already know, I rarely paint with a plan and let my thoughts and mood take me to wherever it wants to go on the canvas. It's a really exciting method especially with having accumulated a well stocked studio full of mediums and tools to work with which is very freeing!
'Villa Escalera' is a piece of surrealism. A mixture of a dream memory and imagination. A little escapism, perhaps a late arrival to a Spainish villa where the air has cooled, there's welcoming tranquility and an auspicious vibe.
I've used Acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal and high pigment pastels which have been fixed and matt varnished to an archival, gallery standard.
This piece has a studio made complimentary frame of white painted strip wood, which if required can be removed easily by your framer should you wish for something different.
