Mindscapes - Places that emerge on the canvas, sometimes subconsciously...I just start making marks (usually with a palette knife not brush), not much planning for the colour palette either but somehow it all comes together because I get in the zone and paint what I feel and go to that place. It's like a map or journey, balancing shapes and colours as a landscape appears. Towards the end appear small, often unintentional detail that suddenly gives perspective. This is one of my favourite paintings so far. It's the merging of the memory of places where there was happiness and tranquility.
