The very start of this year brought a new small series of paintings called the Homecoming, perhaps inspired by the excitement (and slight trepidation) of a close friend preparing to sail the Atlantic for the first time. I used loose, bold strokes without getting caught up in detail, also a fairly muted palette. I discovered that finishing with whispery, trailing marks really caught my wish to express coastal/sea noises and wind in the air.
