BEAUTY IN THE UNDERGROWTH

September 1, 2018

I spend much of my time walking in parks and woodland looking at things that I imagine most people just pass by, like down at our feet where a tiny group of mushrooms are gathered under a step, or where it might just look like weeds, dead stems and bramble, I see tiny buds and patterns and intricate twists and turns, weaving to form a base for new leaves and perhaps blossom next year.

The Undergrowth is truly nature's unsung beauty. Even the word 'Undergrowth' sounds unflattering but it is the place that shelters tiny creatures that feed the bigger creatures and we can not do without this scruffy, pickle on the ground beneath the hedgerows and the trees.

Welcome to my small series of 'Beauty in the Undergrowth'.... (available for sale very soon!)
