Lake - Brushes and Rags

February 1, 2018

I discovered by chance, well no actually by making a big ol' mistake, that sometimes putting paint on a canvas then trying to wipe or wash it off again might not remove the error but in fact can produce an interesting affect, which, if done purposely and carefully can be a beautiful technique for abstraction.

With this painting 'Lake', the paint went on, allowing it to dry for a while then wiped down with rags and water.. after a while I got a feel for how long the perfect drying time would be before scrubbing away and getting these beautiful 'random' marks right where I wanted them.
